From one united fan to another, it definitely is a reach, but not inconceivable for you to get in. I got into WUSTL with similar EC’s and academics, but it’s such a crapshoot that nothing is certain.

Your ACT looks like it’s dead average for enrolling students. Your grades are probably somewhat average, the spread between your UW and W indicates that you’ve taken rigorous course schedule. Your ECs look about average for a dedicated HS student.

It would be nice if you could raise your ACT a bit, though honestly, with a 32, I’m not sure it would make any real difference. You’re already up there.

Overall – I think you’re a ‘match’ at NU. That’s the good news. Here’s the thing – NU has more ‘match’ applicants than it has the ability to admit. The same is true about Wash U. So, many students who are legitimate matches don’t get admitted. About all you can do is apply to a number of these and hope.

Most schools ranked 1-10 will be reaches for you, some significant. 11-20 "match’ but with have similar acceptance rates to NU. 21-30 – your chances begin to rise. 31-40 you have an excellent chance of admissions. 41-50 near safety school. Higher than 50 – if you don’t get in, you’ve been incredibly unlucky.

There will be some exceptions in these categories, but not many.

btw, meant to say somewhat ‘above average’ re your grades.
