How much of a role does showing interest play in admissions?

I am wondering if Boston College is one of those schools that places weight on demonstrated interest. Does anyone know if they keep track and if it plays a role? Has anyone who has been accepted/waitlisted/rejected felt it has been because of interest level? Just wondering if this could potentially explain the high numbers of qualified applicants who were waitlisted and rejected.

When you go to a campus tour, they don't make you fill anything out. They say outright that demonstrated interest doens't count.

That's strange. I hear some people on here talking about how being out of state is an advantage because BC doesn't like to take too many from Mass. public schools. Is this true? If so, is there any advantage from being from PA?

i don't think showing interest counts at all. i showed practically no interest because i wasn't particularly interested when i applied, but later decided to go there, so i guess it's a good thing.

but be sure to apply Early Action

I've heard Early Action is even harder to get into. Can you elaborate?
