I just noticed that on the UC admissions website they look at whether or not you are an ELC member. I probably could have easily gotten ELC membership if I had just turned the form in but unfortunately I didn't. Will that impact me in anyway? Just kind of have to get that off my mind with a simple yes or no. On the same topic I was wondering whether senior year 1st semester will have a dramatic impact on admissions chance. My GPA and SAT scores are fairly high (4.67 uncapped; 4.33 capped; basically 8 AP/honors classes during my sophmore and junior year with 6 classes during each year. SATI:2310 and SATII:800/750) But this year I only have 5 classes and I have a chance of getting 2 B's this semester. I've kept up with the rigor of my classes since I'm taking 4 AP classes this year but the drop in grades worries me when I'm so close to finally finishing high school.

Haha, with this much text I might as well ask whether anyone thinks I have a decent chance at getting into the UCB's EECS.

Do your best senior year and don't worry about the grades for the UC's, you don't send your transcript in until you graduate in June. Just don't fall below 3.0cumulative!
ELC just looks good only your app to CAL, doesn't guarantee admissions as it does at some other UC's.
Your stats look fine for EECS for in-state.
Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for the reply! That's a load off of my mind but now I'm kind of confused on the whole UC grade policy. Does the first semester of senior year matter in terms of application and admission? I was always under the impression that they still see your first semester senior grades before deciding if you're in or not but if transcripts are turned in at the end of high school and applications are due before first semester grades are in, how does that work?

I don't believe ELC really matters in admissions. They will see that you have a high UCGPA and that's enough. Really, ELC just guarantees you a spot at one UC campus (probably UC Merced this year).

The first semester of senior year does NOT matter at all for the admissions process. The only way it will matter is that if you are accepted but your senior grades drop below 3.0, your admissions could be revoked. Otherwise there is nothing to worry about. :)

Your chances for EECS looks good. Good luck with your admissions.

You put your 1st semester classes and your anticipated 2nd semester schedule on the application. It's not a good idea to drop a class or change 2nd semester classes after your application is submitted.
It is rare they will ask for your transcript in January, but there are a small percentage of applicants at CAL they request "supplemental" information from. If they ask you for this info it will be an e-mail request including a questionaire you can complete on line, they request recommendations and also your transcipt to be mailed at that time. This is the only time senior grades make a difference (other than the 3.0.) If they see that downward trend before making a decision...
Just do your best and don't worry about getting one of those supplementals until you get there.
The UC's don't verify a lot on the application until after they accept you. If you provide false info they can revoke your acceptance. Transcripts and AP scores are a condition of your acceptance and have to be sent in by sometime in the summer.
