<p>While some of the smartest people I know are asians, and not just in math and science, my school has only 2 asians in the top ten, and then like a chunk from 50-60 (3.7 UW range), who are kinda smart, but rebellious against the universal asian predisposition towards stuff like the quadratic formula. (Indians included in asian here). So they kinda fit the stereotype because if you compare them with average high schoolers, they still are very good, and will probably be going to top 35-15 schools by usnews. But they aren't the I study 24/7 asians. More like the I would study, but screw it, I can play DDR now and still go to a great college. From what I can tell, Asians in prep schools are gravitating away from the stereotype.</p>

<p>i so totally didn't realize what you meant by 'top 10,' but then i remembered we were in a college forum.</p>

<p>Our school doesn't rank, but for some odd reason we give awards to the top 10 in rank (so I guess we do rank, we just don't report it, except for the top 10, and then it's not in any order).</p>

<p>So in our >90% white school, I believe there are...3 Asians ranked in the top 10, two Chinese and one Indian.</p>

<p>Going by last year, (I don't know the ones for my year or this year), 2 were Asian, one was half Asian half Hungarian.</p>

<p>My school is like 55% white, 40% black and 5% Asian. There are like no Hispanics. It's sort of sad.</p>

<p>I say more than half, but last year only one of our valedictorians (it's based on unweighted GPA) was Asian.</p>

<p>I think it really depends on where you live. If you're in the bay area in California, then 7-8/10 will be asian. At some high schools like Mission, where the entire population is already 80% asian, the top 10 are all Asian.</p>
