Is it a quota by county? or is there a total cap of, for example, 2000 new transfer students? I'm a prospective business transfer from community college with competitive stats, but I know that the business college is extremely competitive and in high demand.

UF takes in a little over 3,000+ transfer students a year (while about 6,400 freshmen enroll each fall). There is no quota by county, it’s a soft cap based on how many students they feel they can support.

Below are the numbers for Fall 2013.

Applicants 6,291
Admitted Applicants 2,412
Enrolled Applicants 1,831

Based on major, UF can be very competitive for a transfer student. Also, some limited access/impacted majors may be nearly impossible to get into as a transfer student (or even as a freshman). Transfer students into the School of Business are limited to the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BABA) – General Studies major. Unlike freshman who only apply to the University, transfer students also have to apply to the college/major. Business is one of the more popular majors and can be very competitive.
