Hi,
I’m a highschool senior applying for SCAD next fall semester and in need of scholarship, so I want to ask for my chance of a merit scholarship from SCAD. I tried their net calculator and it said that my range is from 8,500 to 11,000, but this is a wide range and even $1000 could mean a lot to me.
I have an SAT of 1370/1600
I studied in Vietnam during 9th,10th and 11th grade so I don’t really have a 4.0 GPA, but according to some documentation I read online, a 8.0 is considered an A in America and all 3 years my performance was about 8.5
I have a 4.0 GPA for first quarter in senior year in US
Also, I won english and literature competitions in Vietnam, participated in a fair amount of volunteer projects
Can I get a scholarship of about 10,000 for these academic achievements?
Thank you for making time for this post! I’m grateful for all replies
Doesn’t SCAD award more merit based awards based on you portfolio than need based awards based on your grades?
The school is very costly…how much can your parents pay?
What is your intended major at SCAD…and how strong is your portfolio for that major?
@thumper1 not really, they can give up to 10,000 for the academic scholarship, but maximum scholarship for your portfolio is about 6,000. SCAD is also a school you can get in without portfolio, you know.
And yes, it’s costly, that’s why I need scholarships. It’s not my only option tho, just my first option.
My intended major is Illustration, and I’m still working on my portfolio, but I’m planning on posting it on this site when I’m done with it to ask about scholarship again. I think it’s pretty good.
Ask in the SCAD forum, but it’s not known as a school that gives a lot of aid.
@twoinanddone I didn’t know there is a SCAD forum :o Thanks for letting me know, is it on this site or another site? cuz I can’t find it on google
Most schools have a page here on CC.
Go to Colleges and Universities, then under “S”
