How much should I expect to pay?

I've been trying to narrow down my list of schools but academics aside, I don't know if I'll be able to pay for some of these schools! I know financial aid for transfer students is pretty limited but what is a reasonable expectation for tuition costs at a school like Northeastern or USC? I'm paying about $30k a year now and probably can't afford much more than that without taking out serious loans, is it even worth it to apply?

FWIW here are some school I'm looking at:

Northeastern
USC
LMU
Chapman
USD

All colleges state their tuition and R&B costs on their websites. Colleges vary as far as their FA policy towards transfers, that too is often discussed on their website.

As far as how much FA you will receive and what form it will take (loans, WS & grants), that depends on your personal financial situation and the FA policies of the individual schools.

USC LMU Chapman and USD will all be about $40,000 a year, I don’t know about northeaster but I would guess its not a whole lot different.

@ entomom-Sorry, I completely forgot to mention that I’ve looked through the individual school websites but from past experience, I know I won’t quality for Federal based aid. I was hoping to see what the general consensus was on generosity in terms of school backed aid for the schools listed.

@ chuck19-Thanks for your input, so I shouldn’t expect much in the way of aid then for any of the west coast choices?

While some schools are more generous than others, institutionally based FA will still depend on your individual financial situation and will not necessarily be comparable to someone else. So the most input you can expect is relative generosity between schools. For instance, HYPS generally give more FA than Amherst and Brown if your family income is 100-200k/yr, but if family income is 40k/yr, they’re all equally generous.

Thanks for your help entomom, general stats are more what I’m looking for. My parents have taken furloughs this year but their combined salary is still in the 100-200k income bracket. From what I’ve read, a lot of people are in a similar financial situation where they don’t qualify for need based aid, so I wanted to hear how generous or stingy each school usually is for someone like me.

I’ve checked around and it looks like Northeastern is pretty conservative with non-need based aid. Does anyone have experience with them? When I visited LMU this spring, they too mentioned that they provide only limited aid for transfer. Chapman however, states they give quite a bit of non-need based aid so I’m thinking this would be my best option. If it matters, I’m aiming for a 3.8 this semester but my cumulative gpa would only be around a 3.6.

The only award you’ll be eligible for for NEU is this one and it’s not generous by any means.
