I took the SAT during November this year, and got a 1930.
750 Math
630 CR
550 Writing
I know I totally bombed the writing section, and I plan on trying to get that up. I was just wondering does the 750 on Math look really good along with the lower English scores?
In other words, would 650 on M, CR, W look better than my 750 on math with the low 550 writing score?
Well a lot of schools don’t consider the writing section. All schools that use SAT scores, use the CR and M sections as far as I’m aware. So yeah it would basically. Still try to raise your score if you can, regardless.
Writing is likely the less important section score. CR+M are more important.
Well your CR+M score is good but I think you should work to get both the CR and the Writing scores up. The 750 is very good but hey it never hurts to strive for 800. Do some studying and maybe take it in April or May.
Thanks for the replies guys. So my SAT isn’t god awful because of the writing…is it?
In general, it’s better not to worry about things you can’t change. If you’re unhappy with your score, you can always study and take the SAT again. For right now, I would just worry about what you have control over. FWIW, I’d probably rather see this score distribution than all 650s.
550 should be around national average. The composite or CR+M are not bad at all although not for top schools It would depend on what schools you are looking at.
Isn’t the SAT going to be very different next year? Isn’t there a major revision in the works? I think they’re getting rid of the writing section anyway.
^ If OP is a junior already, then the new SAT would not be helpful as it would not start until March.
