Always back to inherited opportunity?
Sure, it helped my kids and lots of others. But realize how many kids find their mentors, their inspiration, outside the family. How many have blue collar parents, with no degree, who nonetheless encourage or set standards. A notable number of these kids, if they’re not an only child or eldest, have sibs who went to pretty impressive colleges.
Look, I get the lean toward assuming the worst, it’s all the familiarity some have with lower SES others. But the strivers are impressive.
