How much sleep do you try to get for major tests such as SAT/ACT/AP? Have you ever taken a major test with very little sleep?

I'd get 7-9..

Took 3 subject tests with like, 5.5 hours. it was the night after senior grad (cough gay).

not a great idea to do willingly... i was DEF less focused, and was a little anxious/jittery.

also, don't take an energy drink/caffeine before a test (imo). I took few sips of monster before SAT, it made me rush a little bit.

^^ haha i drank coffee before the test. drank 2 cups. big mistake. man did i take a big leak after the ap test. then i fell asleep in my class after the AP test. fun day.

yeeeeeah it always comes to kick you in the a$^

just get sleep, and a good breakfast. like they always say.

I would say a solid ten or so, but that's what I get every night, so I suppose that my sleeping habits don't change et all for tests.

7-10, depending. Its worked well for me so far. :)

And I do make a point of having some form of caffeine before the exam, especially if it's in the morning (8 AM APs, SATs, and ACTs).

4 hrs of sleep before the APs after cramming half the night.
I think I got 7 hrs of sleep before the SAT because it was on a Saturday (no homework due!).

4-6 hours before major tests, drink lots of coffee and redbulls (but I take 2 hour naps right after school ends)

Worked out so far...

Dont try to do anything drastically different from your normal routine. Dont try to study so much that you only have like 4 hours of sleep, but also dont try to force yourself to sleep for 8-10 hours if you dont normally do that.

I usually get 8 hours of sleep at least before the day of an exam. I dont do any cramming the night before because its going to worry me more than it would help me.

~8 hours for me. I normally get 6-8 hours of sleep anyway though.

Depends on my tiredness and readiness on said test.

For Bio, I wasn't close to ready (imo) and had enough energy for an all-nighter.
APES followed the following day so I was naturally, extremely tired. I crammed 6 hours quickly and went to sleep (I had done no review, no class since January, so I had accepted the possibility of failing)
AP Euro I got 4 or 5 hours for.
AP Calc I got 8 hours.. I didn't really study much for this test.

i always try to get at least 8, no matter what it is, be it a final or a major test like an AP, SAT, ACT, etc.

no sleep. stayed up all night for euro and bio. got a 4 on both of them.

taught me i can't cram a year of info into two nights.

the day before my sat and ap, i chatted on msn, listen to music, had a relaxing night =), went to sleep at 10pmish, wake up at 6. just like a normal routine, but prior to that ,i sleep around 12, i changed the habit a week before, so i'd get used to sleeping at 10 =p
so yea 8 hrs

I always get AT LEAST 6 hours the week before and then 7-9 around 2 days before. I'm deathly afraid of falling asleep during a test. >_<

I would have wanted eight hours, but with every major test I've taken, I get about four, usually because I wanted to sleep, but I just couldn't get to sleep. ;[ Plus, on test days, I woke up earlier, to make sure I didn't miss my ride, and so I could get my body going earlier. I didn't do caffeine, I just had a nice breakfast, and it worked out for the most part. More would've been nice (at least six).

For the SAT I got around 4 hours. For the AP Lang I got around 6.

A full night! I tried to stay up late before my AP World exam cause I hadn't studied at all, but my mom was like, "No, you already know the material. Get to sleep." Lols, she was right (got a five). :) I think sleeping is better than cramming, unless you're self-studying. Then, cramming comes in handy.

7 - 8 hours
I usually drink a cup of coffee but caffeine really has no affect on me whatsoever

come on guys. you gotta cram and stay up all night long. before the ap test you eat a chocolate bar and drink two cans of monster/full throttle/coffee!
