<p>It really depends on the time of year. I spend every Saturday at some kind of competition in the spring (usually all day events), and sometimes the whole weekend, but in the Fall maybe only 6-7 hours a week?</p>

<p>It really depends. Some weeks, I'll spend 20 hrs on robotics alone (during the build season)</p>

<p>If you want to get into college, you're expected to spend no less than 26 hours a day... per EC.</p>

<p>^a day??!! LOL... man some of my ECs are in school ECs and depends on teacher supervisor... i dont think it makes sense that u spend 10 hours a week on every single EC... i do all my ECs everyday together... so i made sure my timings made sense...</p>

Like probably 0 hours a day right now but if I wanted to like 10 hours?</p>

<p>But theres too many people at my school that join clubs just to put it on their college application, but they really dont even care about the club (like this one kid i know who joined math club, showed up to every meeting, but chickened out for the AMC, ARML, Mandlebrot...)...
If you consider the about scenerio an EC (which I dont) than a lot of people will have inflated hours.</p>

<p>yea, my problem is that my hrs really vary a lot. I mean, how do u measure your research hours. sometimes, you spend 0 hrs a week, other times you spend like 4 hrs a day or something.</p>

<p>ahh...yea, so i dont want to inflat the hrs nor do i want to deflat them either....</p>

<p>Honestly, do an average and just use that. My memory fails me on this point, but if the app lets you put in a range, that could work, too. </p>

<p>For instance, for Debate, my hours really varied based on whether we were in season and had competitions that week or whether it was preseason. So I just balanced out my hours over the course of a season and reported that. Don't overthink this.</p>

<p>last year I spent close to 25 hours a week (research internship)...but now I only do stuff at lunch except piano; I probably play piano for a good 3 hours a day :)</p>

<p>What qualifies as an EC? </p>

<p>Martial Arts--> 10-15 hrs a week.<br>
Flute/Piano--> about an hour a day.</p>
