How much time do you engineering majors spend studying? Would I have time to pursue other interests such as singing, volleyball, traveling, outdoors stuff, and who knows what else I might find at college? I'm interested in engineering, but not sure I want to make it my life. I want to have a social life in college. Thanks!

That depends on you. The answer to your question doesn’t exist because different people spend drastically different amounts of time studying. If you manage your time halfway decently, you should have time for plenty of other hobbies and interests.

^Except for singing. No one has time to open their mouths and let noise come out at a louder than average tone.

Most engineering students make time for hobbies or just goofing off. But it usually revolves around the academic priorities.

Engineering students and free time. there’s a joke in here somewhere

As long as you don’t have a baby, buy a new house, work two jobs, try to spend time with your significant other, shelter an abuse victim indefinitely, stay on top of your plethora of bills, car maintenance, cat maintenance, do research/volunteer with/for a professor or try to actively volunteer in honor societies or your discipline’s professional group you’ll be fine… ;-)

I also go to LAN parties, dinner parties, and other social functions as time permits.

I will note that I don’t travel far solo anymore for obvious reasons. However, I’m getting away with family this weekend and next weekend I’m heading out of state for my gaming group’s 10th anniversary.

Edit: oh and I sing in the car during commutes.
