Please accept it everyone one of my friends got a acceptance package weighing 1.5 lbs and another got a .3-4 lb package and he was rejected from a different college. So Anirudh CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Loving the speculation!
I think it’s a pretty scientific way of looking at things… genius, actually! If nothing else, at least it’s keeping people occupied haha. (though I wish you guys with the 1.5lb packages do get in- congratulations in advance!) Damn. How I wish I’d signed up for the UPS delivery system right now!

When did we opt to have it sent via UPS and when did we enter our credit card information? Or was this something that you had to do separately?

@Gil427
You would have got the option along with the application receipt packet. You had to fill out a form with your credit card details and send it back to CMU

@CollegeGirl101

Ummm… I must have passed right over that. Do we only see decisions online if we didn’t fill it out or do we just not get the full packet?

you will get the full packet but it will take a longer time

@Gil427

You see decisions online regardless of whether you filled out the form or not, BUT, you can only see it 4 days after they have sent out the decision packets. (because they update your “where am I in the process” page only 4 days later) And you still get the full packet even if you didn’t sign up for the UPS delivery- UPS only makes sure you get it sooner! Hope that clears your doubts :)

If you’re domestic, you’ll receive it soon. If you’re international, it could take a long long time for you to get it if you didn’t opt-in for UPS.

I would’ve expected some PA area applicants to have received their packet today, but no one has posted yet. Any thoughts on when the first ones will begin to arrive?

LOL I think this really is quite genius. Too bad I didn’t get it overnight.

Hmm…whoever receives their letter first should weigh it and post the weight here… :D

In all seriousness, I think it seems like an interesting way to speculate. It is genius…but I wish I had overnighted it now.

It was a pretty obvious thing. I really don’t think that relating the weight of an envelope and the decision in US admissions involves any stroke of genius.

I got in ![]()
It is really heavy so yea…

I mean I guess you can check if you got accepted this way. But that takes all the fun out of it. Plus i don’t think I payed for the UPS method. Either way, instead of trying to find loopholes, why not just honor the method in which they inform you?

How long will the regular mail take for east coast? Does anyone know?

Given the number of packages CMU sends out, I’m sure they get some sort of bulk rate.
