How much weight do midyear reports carry?

I finished my first 3 years with a 4.52 weighted GPA- good, but not stellar.
Right now, I'm looking at a 4.86 weighted GPA for the first semester of my senior year. Would this help me at all? I got deferred from the University of Chicago and I was hoping that the really high senior year GPA would help me out there.

Most colleges already make their decisions before they even see the midyear report.

^Im pretty sure that is not true… most Mid Year reports are submitted by late January.

Deferrals are basically a wait and see, meaning you’re on the edge. A good midyear report could definitely tilt the odds. I myself got deferred at three colleges and accepted at all three after a major grade improvement senior year.
