I read all of the other interview threads and this wasn't directly answered... they do a pretty substantial write up i know so it seems like that must mean something?? Or is it more used as a tie breaker (I read somewhere else the good point that every Dartmouth applicant is bound to be well spoken, etc). STILL, there must be some students who stand out above the rest (the ones who receive the highest recommendation level on the write up). Will the interviews give these applicants a big boost? The Dartmouth app didn't seem as in depth as most of the others i completed for highly selected schools, and i honestly believe my interview added a lot to their understanding of who i am. PLus it went really well, so I do have reason to hope they mean something :D

hmm.. i'd like to know the answer to this question as well but for different reasons. my dartmouth interview, which was my first ever college interview, went pretty badly, so i'd like it to not carry as much weight.

I don't think we can ever find out without some insider info. Mrs. Hernandez didn't go too in-depth, iirc. Maybe a student who works in the admissions office can help us out?

I had my interview last Friday and my Dartmouth Alum told me what they do with the write up after. She told me that usually by the time they submit the write up, a decision is already made. She said it pretty much helps to confirm the student is a good fit. She also said that it is used in a tiebreaker situation. I really like my Interviewer. She was really straightforward and honest. She even told me one thing she didnt like about Dartmouth is the counseling service. She said it was pretty weak compared to other schools, as in they kind of leave you be, and let you make it through your undergrad. I thought that was interesting. This is usually more characteristic of a large public school. hope that helps.

Well, my interview went pretty well (the guy pretty much said I should be accepted, lol), so I hope it counts for a lot! My interviewer made me love Dartmouth even more...
