I had an interview with a Penn Alumni on Wednesdaay, and it went really well. She said that I was a "great candidate" and that she would write a "glowing letter" to the admissions office, and seemed sincere when she said it. My question is, will her letter do anything to put me ahead in the minds of the admissions committee?

probably not. Alumni interviews are difficult to standardize since it takes a fair amount of training and practice to be a good interviewer. So they generally count for little unless there is a strong negative report sent. Examples: admit you are applying just to see if you get in or because your parents made you, strange behaviour, racist comments, lie about something the interviewer knows about (one frequent poster here and an alum interviewer was told by an applicant that said applicant was a student leader in a community org; since the alum was active in that very org and had never seen the student, you can bet admissions heard about it).

It can be a tie-breaker between two very similar candidates, but has a very minimal impact compared to Grades, Test Scores, ECs, Essays and major stuff like that.

Again: it depends on the school.
