How much will 2 B's in Freshmen Year make a difference?

Hey

So I will be graduating high school this year with:

4.78 weighted GPA
3.98 unweighted GPA
2300 SAT Score
800 on SAT Math 1 and 2 Subject Test
740 on SAT Spanish Subject Test
800 on SAT Biology Subject Test
750 on SAT Chemistry Subject Test
780 on SAT Physics Subject Test
34 on ACT and Writing

Throughout high school, I had all A's except Honors World History and AP Computer Science (where I had B's in both), and an A- in Honors English. These grades were all in freshmen year.

Sophomore, Junior and Senior years, I had straight A's and A+'s

I would take every AP and honors class that I could except physical education and Spanish.

By the way, these are these are the AP tests I took: (I got a 4 or 5 on all of these)

• AP Computer Science
• AP World History
• AP European History
• AP English 3
• AP English 4
• AP Calculus BC
• AP US History
• AP Chemistry
• AP Spanish
• AP Macroeconomics / AP Microeconomics
• AP Environmental Science
• AP Statistics
• AP Physics

These are the clubs and sports I have taken throughout high school:

• Math Team
• Business Professionals of America
• Scholastic Bowl
• Rocketry
• Model UN
• Tennis

It has always been my dream to go to schools such as MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, or University of Pennsylvania? I would also be satisfied with University of Chicago.

Would admission officers select me even though I had two B's and 1 A- in Freshmen year? Will those freshmen grades create an obstacle for me to get into my dream schools?

Any response will me appreciated! Thanks!

You can never be certain about those schools, but your grades will pose no problem.

So I may or may not have a chance? What about University of Chicago?

You have a good chance to any of them, perhaps even over 50-50.

Oh ok, Thanks!

And by the way, do you happen to know what the aid is in top tier schools? Because I live in Illinois, and when I was checking the school’s websites, I saw it was 40k per year, and then an additional 15k for housing

I don’t think those B’s matter much. Look at the admit rate to those colleges. That will give you a general idea. Go to the chances forum if you want to play that game.

To figure out an estimate of what you will have to pay, run the Net Price Calculator locate on each college website.

You would be satisfied with Chicago…
I hope you have a safety school. While you have a very strong academic record all those schools are reaches.
