How much will a maker's portfolio help my chances?

I have already finished my MIT application for EA Fall 2017. I didn’t, however, include a maker’s portfolio. In my essays I’ve talked about everything I’ve done (Most of the things I’ve done, it’s quite a list), and I didn’t think a maker’s portfolio would be necessary. The deadline is November 1, so I still have time to send in a maker’s portfolio. Should I do it? Or does it not increase my chances by a huge margin? Thanks a lot.

@jamesoncarp If you feel like a maker’s portfolio would add to your application, then send one. The supplements are there for you to be able to express who YOU are, not for you to try to fit the “MIT mold” as such mold does not exist.

@KG5APR Thanks for the reply!

@KG5APR has good advice. As cliche as it sounds, the most important things is being yourself. They’ve read enough applications to know who’s being insincere (I’m sure you aren’t!).

A maker portfolio can’t hurt, though. I would submit one unless you feel like you’re only repeating information from your activities list.

Thanks man! @pineappledragon
