How much WILL B's hurt me overall?

For very selective schools? I'm talking like this (excluding Freshman years since most don't look at it): Soph: 5 As/1 B (did good), but Junior: 4 As / 2Bs, with a good possibility of 3/3 instead.

I mean, realistically, how much will this hurt me if I have good SATs and still have very strong ECs? How will I look compared to the other applicants?

P.S. Fresman was like 3/3 if I remember correctly.

B's are definitely hurtful but if you maintain a certain GPA, it's fine

if they are high b's then u might end up with a high B+ or a low A-, and if their low, then a low B+....

You might as well go ahead and get your application for McDonalds - NO college is going to accept you with a B.

Haha guglielmo, nice sarcasm. I know most of you think it is stupid to worry about B's, but for some top-notch schools I'm looking at (Brown, Cornell, Swarthmore), those could be the difference between an admission and a rejection, even if I got loads of stuff going for me otherwise.

In all likelihood, it won't hurt you unless there is some other gaping flaw in your application. Don't sweat it. I got into my top choice ivy league with a 3.2(weighted). I wasn't an athletic recruit, legacy or URM. I wrote a killer essay, had incredible ECs, and did pretty darn well on the SATs. I didn't think I had a chance at the ivy league, but apparently the ivy league adcoms saw something in me, despite my terrible GPA.

You'll be fine.

What Ivy? And what other things did you having go for you (EC, etc wise)
?

Because of some of the stuff I've admitted on this board, I'd rather not say, but I'll assure you that I was indeed admitted to one.

I attended Boys State, and was elected governor at my respective Boys State delegacy.

I began a campaign for a certain bill that was passed in my (real) state, and was present at its signing by the Governor, who credited me with it and wrote me a very personal recommendation.

I have written numerous editorials for a major newspaper.

I am a nationally ranked debater.

I lead every club I am a member of, many with over 50 members.

I had decent volunteer credentials (100 hours)

I work close to full-time (39 hours/week) to help support my family.

I was Junior and Senior Class Prom King and designated "The Most Likely to Succeed" at my high school.

I was the Student Body President.

My essay was the best I've ever written.

My SAT Scores:
Verbal - 800
Math - 620
Writing - 800 (12 on Essay subscore)

ACT - 35

GPA - 2.8 UW, 3.2 W
Class rank - Bottom 50%, 272/521

Anything else?

Well, you have alot that most don't that can help you get in. Like, a personal rec from a GOVERNOR. Most can't top that.

Actually, a lot of people get recs from politicians of some sort. They just aren't any good because usually the public figure doesn't know them well. This is an exception.

Cool stuff, that.

If you are still in the top 5% of your class and your SATs are at or near the 75%, a few Bs won't hurt.
