How much will completing my IGETC help me?

I don't intend on this being a "chance me" thread even though it will sound that way, but how much will completing the IGETC as a biochemistry major help me? I started at my CCC as a history major and changed it this past year to biochem, so unlike many science majors, I will have completed both my IGETC and science pre-reqs. Am I correct in thinking that this will help my chances getting into UCLA? Or any of the other UC's for that matter? My GPA is 3.65 just for reference.

No, A LOT of people complete their IGETCs in time. But completing your major prep for biochemistry, which has a lot of courses, will help you out a lot.

Ya completing IGETC won’t really put you at such an advantage it would only be a disadvantage if you didn’t complete it…or at least i think so. its mostly based on ur gpa and whether or not u have completed or will complete the classes for your major. and of course having ECs and being TAP certified boosts your application up.

Right on, thanks guys. And will have an an AA in chemistry and an AA in biology help my cause? Or are they just a couple of pretty certificates to put on my wall?

pretty much certificates lol. UCs esp UCLA don’t require AA degree its not gonna help u or hurt you.
