How much will my DECA accomplishments help on my applications?

In my first and only year of DECA competition so far, I placed 5th in my district, 2nd in the state (Tennessee), and advanced to compete in the international competition at DECA in my category (food marketing). I’m applying to some great business schools like Michigan, North Carolina, Emory, WashU, and Indiana, and am wondering how much I can expect these accomplishments to help in getting admitted to these schools and their business programs. If anyone could provide some insight or even a guess as to if or how much this will help me, I would truly appreciate it.

Thanks!

DECA is a nice EC but won’t get you into a college you are not otherwise academically qualified to attend.

You already have a more complete chance thread where you have included your DECA involvement. http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/2099484-should-i-apply-to-elite-schools.html#latest

It’ll look pretty good. I know that UMich has a collegiate DECA program, so it’ll definitely be good there. It’s not a one-way ticket into these schools, but it’s definitely a solid accomplishment and activity.
