I’m a sophomore and my whole life I’ve never gotten a B. I’m taking 4 APs and I slacked a bit this first semester and ended up with a B+ in AP Euro. I’ve been extremely stressed and pissed at myself. How much will this affect my future chances to get into colleges? I’m focusing on a career more in science. Thanks.
It is over. You should now just give up. There is no hope for you or your continued success.

Kidding, of course—but every once in a while the snark has to come out, you know?
Seriously, it’s incredibly easy to get wrapped up in perfection as the only possible outcome—but perfection isn’t always possible, and it isn’t even always ideal.
A B+ is still a good grade. A single B+ embedded within a bunch of As in an intense schedule? Not just good, but admirable.
Just relax, keep focused, and don’t let a minor (and it really is minor, extremely so) hiccup derail you.
Thanks, that makes sense. Also some of the stress is from competition among my peers, but as that shouldn’t affect my future, I should ignore it.
You got the answer you need, but I just wanted to add a bit more to that (to help qualm your fears).
Many of the top students in my grade have has Bs at least once (in fact the #2 GPA in our class had one in an honors english course, and she still surpasses many of the straight-A students).
And just in case you are stressed about getting into a good college:
B student with a couple of Cs on their transcript (amazing ECs) --> Brown
B student (pretty good at basketball) --> Brown
A student with a B+ in AP World --> UMich
A+ student (got only 6 As but 46 A+s) --> rejected from Harvard and Brown
So don’t sweat it. One B (or a couple) in terms of your entire transcript? It’s not a problem! And as long as you remain well-rounded, I’m sure you will be fine. I hope this helped!
As long as you keep things consistent otherwise, it will barely affect your chances. You seem like a great academic addition to any college. Stay confident!
oh and chance me back?
