How much will one CC course affect my chances?

I’m applying to 7 UCs and will wait for admissions decisions IF my ED plans fall through. However, I took a CC class this summer (not UC applicable) and I am at risk for getting a B and maybe a C. If I get a B or a C in this course, how badly will that affect my chances? Or will it just force me to take Physics again?

I’m not sure what you meant when you said that the Physics class was non UC applicable. Did you mean that it wasn’t a UC approved honors class? If it wasn’t a UC approved class, I do not think it will affect your chances because you cannot count it towards your GPA. I think only UC approved CC courses ( found on https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist#/list/search/all) can be counted towards your GPA.

@QuiteAverage90 The Physics class is non-UC approved is what I meant. Thanks!

Wait, I have another question. On the UC app, should I put this class under College Coursework or non a-g coursework?

@michelle426 Sorry for the late reply. I haven’t been on CC for a few days. I think you should put it under College Coursework, because it IS a science class, so I’m guessing even if it’s not a UC-approved Honors Class, it still counts as an a-g course. However, if this is true, then it will affect your unweighted GPA, because it is still an a-g class. I’m sorry for not being clear about this in my earlier reply. UC-Approved Honors Courses get the extra point when calculating the UC GPA and the Fully Weighted GPA, and I think they also count towards your Unweighted GPA. If it’s an a-g course, but not a UC-Approved Honors Course, I think it will affect your Unweighted GPA, but not your UC GPA or your Fully Weighted GPA.

@QuiteAverage90 My counselors told me that it was not going to count towards my UC GPA… It doesn’t even show up on approved a-g online in their course catalog (i.e. AP Chem shows up in course catalog, but not on the app, so it needs to be entered manually). Regardless, I still put it under college coursework because even if I did it wrong, they will just move it to non a-g courses.
