Just a note we are in one month of school so it is early.
I am not aiming for big ivy league schools. I want to get into schools like OU, Texas A&M or preferably PSU. This is my junior year and I am taking 2 AP’s (APUSH and Enviormental). All my common core classes like English, Chemistry, and Math are all Honors. Right now I have a “C” in APUSH and my overall GPA just for this year is a 3.9W (including the C). Even if I get a C for the year I do not plan on dropping the class. Would this C really hurt my chances of admission into those colleges even if I have no intentions of doing anything history related as a major?
The year is still young. Try to turn that C into a B. That being said, I have heard from others here that colleges look at the big picture. If you have done really well throughout HS then one bad grade shouldn’t be that big a deal.
Try to push it to a B- and it would be OK for the Universities you’re considering. If it remains a C, make sure the rest of your grades are excellent.
Well my freshmen year was really hard and I got a 3.3, then last year I got a 3.65 and this year I am on my way (at this point) to a 3.9. Do you think colleges will recognize my upward trend to make me a general 3.7 student or will freshmen year really hurt me. (this is assuming they don’t see any grades senior year).
Colleges typicaly weigh junior year more so that’s good for you!
However you should push that C in APUSH into B category.
