How much would qualifying for AIME help in admissions?

<p>I know it would be better if I was USAMO, but that probably won't happen. Will being an AIME qualifier help me? and if so how much?</p>

<p>Qualifying for AIME isn’t that difficult, so I doubt it would count for much unless you get like 6+ on it… (I’m assuming your talking about ivies/MIT/Stanford/Caltech)</p>

<p>Less than 1% of students who take the AMC qualify for the AIME. It helps. The amount you ask? I’m not sure.</p>

<p>It’s not huge, but it’s a good thing to have. 6+ isn’t that big either, but 10+ is big, although that usually comes with USAMO qualification as well.</p>

<p>AIME qualifying does not help very much if you are talking about the very top colleges.</p>

<p>USAMO and IMO are different stories though.</p>

<p>There’s no golden ticket. But, qualifying for the AIME is definitely a good thing. Don’t drive yourself crazy trying to calculate your odds.</p>
