How much would someone have to pay you...

To go to an Ivy League school?

This is for non-ivy league students who are mentally stable by the way so no need for flaming.

the complete cost of going to Rice, including tuition + room/board + the value of the experience + salary of any jobs that might result from that education

which means it doesn’t really have a price, but at least then it would be fair.

I am unsure whether I understand your question.

I like this thread…my daughter who graduated in 2008 was just below Ivy material; her GC wanted her to apply to one ED as a reach, but not out of the question (double legacy)…she told her that she wouldn’t be caught dead there; she’d rather not go to college…just doesn’t click with the Ivy kids (in her mind)…

They’d have to pay me the full cost of tuition, room and board, books, and travel, in addition to academic services AND a $5000 stipend. Since I’m neither rich nor incredibly smart, and because none of the Ivies appeal to me the tiniest bit, it would have to be an absolutely unbeatable financial package. And even then, I’d probably only accept it from… uh… UPenn. Possibly Georgetown (that’s Ivy league, right? I can never remember). That one sounds slightly more bearable than the others, since it’s closer to what I want in a school (urban, medium to large, NO great books/Core curriculum, variety of majors).

In fact, since Ivies are generally need-blind/100% need/no loans (well, most of them), I was trying to find just one to apply to just to see if I could get a full ride somewhere. I couldn’t even find one. Either they were in undesirable places, had a core curriculum that I didn’t like, were too snobbish/preppy, or were impossible for me to fit into (mostly all of them - I am very low-income, so I definitely don’t fit in with the “let’s go to a broadway show tonight” crowd). Yup - I’ll take my second and third tier schools just fine, thanks.

They’d have to pay tuition, room and board, and all expenses, and even then I’d probably only go to Brown. The Ivy League atmosphere is just too competitive for me.

I’m going to NYU so they would have to at least match what they gave me in aid.

NYU gave me a lot less aid(over like 16,000 less) than both Ivies that accepted me. For me it had to be either those schools like the ivies with insane FA or a state school. I just got lucky.

^right, right. that’s what I mean.

Full financial stuff for all four years taken care of, and let’s make that stipend $1000 a month. =P
I’d like Harvard or UPenn please.

Full ride, or at least full tuition, would be nice dreams
If not, too bad. There are other places I’d rather go (for undergrad at least).

They would have to have an undergrad nursing program and offer me tuition. If Cornell had nursing, I would’ve applied ED because I would get free tuition if I went there.

exactly $100,000 (I got into an Ivy but was that much short of being able to go.)

$90k ($22.5k/yr * 4 yrs)- I got a $22.5k/yr scholarship at Case Western.
