How much

I am trying to get a very solid, but non expensive set of clothes for BS.

Since certain schools are formal prices may be a little more expensive. How much do you guys plan on spending?

On clothes ~$600

Computer 2000-2500

Uh... on what computer are you going to spend 2 grand on?

Hehe, depends what you like. After years of not having access to a computer at all I have a 5k one now... Saving, etc.

A Mac book Pro. It is what my sister got when she went off to BS.

I spent $1000 last year for clothes alone because I had absolutely nothing that fit the dress code, but it was a little much.

I don't have anything that would fit a formal dress code. I don't even have a real tie!

@Benev: MacBook Pros are amazing, I have one, but if I could go back and redo the thing I would get a decked out Air.

Yah, but aren't those things unable to play DVDs because they are too thin?

You can get a super light superdrive on the side, it fits in your backpack with ease.

Pro BL does beat out Air but I have never used my pro for over 6 hours (BL of air) not being in an area where I can charge.

I'll be honest: Don't get obsessed with the laptops... The schools will normally have a suggested laptop list. Check the list and you'll be surprised at the deals and packages. My laptop is $2,000 with software and everything. It is a tablet.(the tablet is the bare minimum at Kent).

i'm probably spending $1000 on clothes.

I think I'm going to get a new Macbook because mine is like 2 years old and falling apart. The people at the apple store genius bar know me and feel bad for me. My hard drive has crashed 3 times in the past year. So my parents probably are going to get me a new one for graduation.

two years old is not old at all...

Get it tuned up at a computer store. Macs last forever.

Get one before college. It will be a lot better, imo.

They really don't last forever but I just said I bring it to the apple store all the time.

I'm going to see if it will make it. I'm really attached to my laptop so if I can keep it, I am. But like it is getting to the point where it will cost less for me to just get a new one. Hard drives are expensive and I have gone through a lot.

Haha... yeah.

My Mom's had her mac for four years and still uses it! It is in good condition, like a japanese/korean car!

Four years isn't really that long to have a computer...

I know that... She plans to keep it for longer.

I used that in perspective with the two years.

Is it a desktop? Those last forever.

iBooks are crap. Thank god they don't make those anymore. Macbooks are decent enough to last a few years but mine is just a tad bit faulty i guess.

No it's a notebook.

oh ok.

i don't know. My macbook is just a mess haha but whatever. Some people get really lucky (your mom) and others obviously chose the short straw (me).
