How necessary are the orientations

We live in California and are preparing to visit and tour the campus the week of April 15th. I'm hoping to avoid another plane ticket and visit during the summer as we would like to just move our daughter in right before school (dawg daze). will she be missing out on anything important if she just waits till that first week of school ? My older son had an orientation at UCSD which he attended but in the end felt it was kind of a waste!

Orientation is mandatory for UW students and it’s where freshman signs up for their autumn quarter classes. So yes, it is necessary and required.

pro tip, get your orientation as soon as possible or you will be stuck with ****ty classes for fall like I was when I was a freshmen. Also make sure to do EFS, because it is awesome, and its a good deal especially if your out of state.

Mooper- what if you got accepted in college of Engineering, should we wait for that one or reg for early general one?

you can’t sign up for classes until your orientation, I seriously doubt there’s any reason to go to a specific college of Engineering orientation
