How negatively does college classes taken in high school affect med school decisions?

Hey so I’m a rising freshman student at my university. I was looking at my grades and I noticed that college classes I took in sophmore year of high school registered onto my transcript. I’m pretty much scared shitless because I didn’t get As. I ended up with a B/B+. I was hoping if anyone would be kind enough to explain to me how negatively this will be looked upon by med school admissions committees. I just don’t want my stupidity in high school spilling over into my fresh, focused college career. I really want to be a doctor and attend a good institution.

Thanks for helping me out guys.

When you apply you’ll be required to have every college you taken course (whether for grade, withdrew, failed, incomplete, etc) submit official transcript. So your B/B+ will be calculated as part of med school GPAs, but med schools will know they were taken during high school. Assuming you’re a competitive applicant based on post high school grades, your B/B+ will probably have little, if any, impact on your chances. Enjoy your college years. Good luck.

The only real issue is if you have accrued enough credits as a high schooler that your GPA is so bad as to get weeded out by the automated screen. Once a human is looking at your app they can see what’s going on and I imagine they would put far more weight in college transcript than high school courses.

Assuming your college career has been successful, you would need A LOT of these courses and way worse than Bs to be concerned.
