I'm a senior in high school applying Regular Decision to several colleges. There's two AP courses that I'm taking this year that I'm not doing that well in. My average for AP Biology this first marking period will be somewhere around 83 and my AP Calculus average will probably be in the high 80s. Everything else about my application is good--rank in top 2% of grade, good recommendation letters, hopefully good essays, and excellent GPA.

If I'm able bring my AP Bio and AP Calculus averages to into the low 90s the second marking period, could I still have a fighting chance at the colleges I'm interested in?

When schools receive the first semester grades, do they receive each marking period's averages, or do they receive the marking periods averaged together? My school has two marking periods a semester so I was hoping that I could compensate for the first marking period with better marking period two grades.

Any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
