Compared to other dorms, how nice is Central Hall really? The pictures I've seen are pretty awesome. Turns out residential life will be a big part of DD's decision. (Yes, I expect she'll be in honors.)

Hi WasatchWriter! Not many UK people are active on CC. Glad to find one other person on here. When we visited, Central was not yet completed. All of the pictures looked wonderful. At a UK dinner that was hosted in Naperville recently, they mentioned that the newest batch of dorms that will be opening in Fall 2014 are also quite nice. They mentioned granite counters, which would make my d’s dorm room nicer than my house.

I saw online that some of the older dorms are really in need of change. The university is replacing all of its existing housing within the next few years. I think d would be safe with any of the newer halls. Our neighbor is a senior there, and lived in a premium dorm that was newer when she started. She had a great experience. Personally, we are trying to avoid the oldest halls, as they appear to be past their prime.

Hi again, NaperMom. Thanks for writing. I also saw photos of the granite counters. Very impressive. I was just emailing with Jonathan Blazejewski (Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission) and he said similar things about their building program. He added this, which some CC readers might find useful:
