Or not always a suit, but casual to professional wear?

I guess this question is mainly for the guys, but females can add input from their own observations with the males at their school.

i would honestly be surprised if anyone i attended school with owned a suit

It would be nice to have a suit for job interviews. The Men’s Warehouse is having a buy 1 get 1 free deal right now. Jump on it.

I recently bought one for an interview. Since I couldn’t pick out another suit I liked, they gave me a sports jacket that would work with both nice pants, and casual pants.

I wear the sports coat once in a while to feel awesome.

well if you join a fraternity you may have formals or things like that to attend

If you’re a business major you’ll need a suit at most schools – a number of events require them.

You wear one every day where I went

I think it’s always nice to have a suit and some dress pants/shirts just in case. Lately I have been needing a dress clothes more often for various occasions, dinners, some events, meetings, interviews, etc so I am going to get a nice suit and some dress clothes before college since fitting into my dad’s clothes is getting harder since I’m taller than him.

Also don’t they have like formal dances/receptions every so often at some colleges at least?

I usually wear my suit at least once or twice a month.

i wear my suit about 1 or 2 times a month

In addition to hypothetical events stated above, if you need to give presentations in class which require a dress code (business casual at least), you should just bring a suit anyways.

It won’t hurt. If you need to wear it, it’s there. If you don’t, then that’s fine as well, though I’m pretty sure you will at some point.

as often as you plan on interviewing for jobs, working in a job setting with a professional business dress code, or dressing up for presentations…is as often as you’ll need to wear a suit in college.

Not THAT often but when you need one you need one. My freshman year I almost never wore one but now that I’m higher up in a couple organizations I need one once a month or so.

You probably won’t need one, but it’s good to have one as a just-in-case. You never know when an impromptu opportunity pops in, and you need to be prepared for an interview in short notice.

Just about everyone I know has at least a couple sets of business casual clothes, if not a suit. Job interviews (there’s a huge job fair every semester here), presentations, etc. I would say I use my dress clothes about once a month.

100% depends on your major and EC’s. (or your love life, some girls REALLLLLLY like to see a man in a suit.)

My S’s GF’s grandfather died, and he wanted to attend the funeral with her. Her was very glad I had insisted he have a suit with him because he brought it on the bus, changed in the funeral home and felt very appropriate to meet her relative.

A suit is required at many events in a man’s life, so I figured it was something he should have.

He also wore it to the “screw date” he college sets up. He has a charcoal grey suit and a black one (added later for music gigs) and wore the grey one with the shirt buttons opened and no tie. I know his date appreciated it.
