Do the people who matter know the difference?

Define “people who matter” If you mean grad/professional school admissions, hiring managers of legitimate companies, and maybe a savvy potential BF/GF – YES.

If you mean your future brother in law or your nosy neigbhor or your aunt Millie, often, NO. But with these folks, it’s just SMILE and NOD.

Or, say in a matter-of-fact tone of voice: “No, not Penn State University–that’s a different school. The University of Pennsylvania is a private university that’s one of the eight Ivy League schools, and it’s in Philadelphia.”

If you say that in an informative tone of voice that isn’t defensive, boastful or condescending, they’ll probably appreciate the info, especially if it’s a friend or relative who really cares about you! :)

^ Ahhh… this advice is so much better than mine. TY 45

Thanks for clearing that up. I can breathe easier now.
