Hi,
So i was admitted ed1 to bates but the following week did awful in my ap physics test and now have a c- that I dont think ill be able to bring up by the end of the term. i got an a- first term so my midyear grade will balance to be a b-. i was wondering how often bates revokes admitted students because i did do a little worse in every class this term but nothing drastically bad just the ap physics dilemma. i will have mostly as a few bs and 1 c but my first term grade was all As and A-s. please lmk since im a little worried. thanks!
Although I can’t say for sure, I think you should be fine. AP Physics, as I have learned from my friends, is a pretty hard class and I’m sure Bates knows the rigor of it. Just bring your grades up next marking period!
The golden rule is no D or F grades. You need to bring the physics grade up a bit. Go to extra help, meet with the teacher, get a tutor if needed. I don’t want to be dramatic, but a c- is a little too close for comfort. However, go see your guidance counselor at school, because it might be that they look at the grade for the year rather than for each semester. If needed, your counselor might suggest a course of action to help mitigate the situation.
The reason colleges don’t want to see sliding grades is because they know that you will face a lot of work once you are there. Bates is rigorous, make no mistake. You will have to work hard, so you do need to show them that you can maintain your grades.
What’s your possible major? That matters.
When is this term up?
I don’t think they will rescind on the basis of mid year grades. They would factor in spring semester to a decision like that.
