How poorly does one have to do to get his admission revoked

Recently, I’ve been really worried about getting my admission revoked.

When I was accepted my GPA was a 3.5. I was always pretty much a split between A’s and B’s (half and half freshman year, more B’s than A’s sophomore, more A’s than B’s junior).

My B’s have always come from science and math classes, so Im sure BU learned they weren’t my fortes.

As of now, it looks like my senior grades will end up as the following

English: A
AP Cultures: B
AP Psychology: B
Mass Media/Journalistic Writing: Bs in both (semester courses)
Calc: B
Health: B
Phys Ed: A
Advanced Chemistry: C :(

The advanced Chemistry is really worrying. My Gpa will be like a 3.0 or 3.1, making my cumulative GPA drop to a 3.35 - 3.45 ish, so not too big of a drop.

Anyway, is that C in advanced Chem, or overall pretty average grades anything to be worried about. For as many students that were admitted to BU, do they check EVERYONE, lol?

I don’t think you have anything to worry about. One C (if that indeed is what you will get) on your transcript is not going to hurt you at all. In most cases schools only rescind if somewhat gets a D or an F and usually more than one for that matter. Schools realize that senioritis affects many students, just make sure you don’t get any other C’s.

I am in the same boat with the exception that in 3rd quarter I received a C in AP calc BC (74)and another C in AP literature (76). And the rest are all B’s and A’s. I also have a 3.5 GPA up till junior year. It’s not that I stop working as hard; it is just that the materials got harder especially in calculus. Do you think my acceptance will get revoked? Im going to bring my grades up 4th quarter to at least all A’s and B’s.

OP, I highly doubt the health and phys ed classes will factor in at all, so forget them. Now you’re left with 3 B, 1 A, 1 C. Likely, they’ll care less about chem, if you are a humanities major. If they question your performance, usually you get a chance to explain. Also, speak with your GC. I think chances are that you are fine.

I will be a business major :D

I emailed BU admissions about it, with the premise that Ill be getting a C in Calc and in Advanced Chemistry (At the time of my email my calc grade was borderline, but now its pretty much a guaranteed B). I feel better now, lol.

Here’s the response - I think its safe to assume that you’re admission will be secure as long as you don’t dip below the C level.

Dear Robert,

Thank you for your email.

The Board of Admissions does expect that student’s maintain a high level of academic achievement in their Senior Year. Your final grades will be reviewed once they become available, and poor grades could affect an admissions decision; however, if these two classes do not dip below the C level, you should be fine.
