How popular are HRCs?

I’m a DA to Kelley and Hutton, which is super exciting, but I’m still waiting on some responses from my top choice schools. Since I’m not fully committed to IU yet, I don’t want to put down the $200 housing deposit right now, but I would really love to be in an HRC at Teter, or just be in the Teter quad itself. My friend who’s a current freshman told me that I should wait on my housing application because as an Hutton student, I’m basically guaranteed to live in Teter if I choose Central because they put all honors kids into honors floors. However, I’ve heard that HRCs are really popular and fill up super quickly, so is it wise for me to keep waiting? My friend said she didn’t apply for housing until April and got into the honors floor at Forest, but I’ve heard Southeast isn’t as popular as Central so it may be different in my case.

Essentially, I’d just like to know how quickly HRCs fill up and whether or not I’ll be able to snag a dorm in Teter if I wait till March for my other college decisions. Thanks!

I believe you can get your $200 deposit back if you withdraw by a certain date. Look on the rps.indiana.edu website.

Food for thought. My daughter is F at IU and was a DA to Kelley and Hutton Honors program. You will take some Kelley classes in McNutt. Something to think about and living in the Kelley Living Learning Center. She walks from her dorm room to class in McNutt.

$200 seems a small amount to pay in the grand scheme of things if you have interest in IU and Kelley.
