Is engineering generally a very popular major for most minorities? I'm just curious. Particularly, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, and Aeronautical engineering.

EXTREMELY unpopular. I am african american and i'm majoring in chemical engineering. I know a couple of africans majoring in computer science/comp engr./industrial engineering...but thats it. And i know i black girl who is majoring in chem E.

I am from Asia. Since I am not going to a medical or computer line, engineering it is!

It's too bad that for many minorities enginering is nowhere popular enough!

i know. And the ones that ARE majoring in engineering are mostly african,at least in my school.

Yeah engineering doesnt seem to be popular among minorities...I dont understand why lol so many diff specialties and most are pretty interesting in their own respects :P. I really couldnt see myself doing lib arts :).

Only for Asians. Other minorities are underrepresented at most engineering schools.

Heh, it depends on what you mean by "minority," i think. I think that asians generally go into engineering, as well as medicine and other related fields. But, then again, if you're asking for the whole picture, I think that the peeps here can only give you bits of their own insight and views from their own colleges, which will vary extensively. But, imo, asians generally huddle around engineering (and the maths, physics, etc.) as either a career or backup for med school.

all of the African American students in my class are headed in the engineering direction. of course, there are like only 3 or something.

don't worry about popularity. do what you want to do. break the mold.

Yeah-----------------

Hahahahahahahaha.

I happen to be an African, funny that a lot of them go engineering . . . .

Anywayz, I was hoping it was unpopular so I could look more unique to colleges. Shallow, I submit, that is.
