since the campus is so big i was thinkin of gettin a longboard. are there a lot of people who bike, skateboard, or mostly just walk? also any of you guys who own a skateboard/longboard, where do u keep it during class?

When I visited it seemed like mostly everyone walked. Someone asked about bikes and a current student said not many kids have bikes. I don't know about skateboards.

About 5% of UCLA students bike to/from class. About 5% of UCLA students skateboard to/from class. The other 80-90% walk. People usually lock their bikes in the bike racks next to the major lecture halls or bring their skateboards into class and lean it against the side of an aisle-side chair.

alot of people skateboard

i have no coordination.. so i walk :)

I assure you, walking is great exercise. ;)

UCLA isn't really that big. I'm sure walking will be fine.

And walking will be the most practical method. Have you seen the campus??

Yeah UCLA really isn't very big - walk!!

walk and lose those extra pounds...

i walk sometimes and longboard sometimes. i like longboarding to afternoon classes or classes that aren't at the most common times, because there's a lot less foot traffic and it's easier to just cruise. when it's busier i usually walk. i estimate that about 60-75% of the way to class can be skated depending on what route you take, the rest is uphill or stairs, which you can't really skate over. and yea, there are a fair number of people here who skate to class.

oh and storing the longboard during the class isnt usually a problem, you can just put it against a wall or against a seat or whatever.

i walk all over the place. sad. haha. but it is great exercise, especially if you live in a dorm far away so you have to go up another hill and then many flights of stairs. you'll have calves of steel for your duration at ucla haha.

Be careful if you decide to try to go down Bruinwalk on anything but foot. I have seen a good many people fall this year and roll down much of the hill.

skating down a hill requires carving to slow down. peak class times means theres a lot of traffic on bruin walk. carving + traffic doesnt mix, so the skaters have to scrub or run into someone ;) and some just arent skilled enough and fall off when they try to carve. :D

I walk.... gives exercise/

I haven't seen anyone fall down. :(

But I have seen someone on a scooter running someone over.

I've almost gotten hit by a skater/biker on bruinwalk too many times.

i haven't seen anyone fall or run into anyone or anything. aww my life is so boring here haha.
