How practical is it to major in Physics/Pre-med?

I've just been accepted into a University and have yet to decide on a major.
I'm in love with Physics, but I know it's a very tough job market for the aspiring physicist. I'd love to be a doctor to help people, plus I realize it's a great area to make a living in.
I'm just wondering how well medical schools will place me next to the average Biology/Pre-med major if I go the Physics/Pre-med route?

Also, grades and intelligence really aren't part of the equation.
I finished high school with a 4.0, as well as a 32 on my ACT.

There are many great opportunities out there for medical physicists. As long as you cover the basic pre-med curriculum, you will be fine.

Keep in mind though, physics is very difficult – maybe the most difficult major in the sciences. You’re going to need a high GPA to be competitive in med school admissions.
