I love all things preppy and nautical and I’m interested in these colleges. Also my stats are exceptionally well so getting in isn’t necessarily something I’m worried about although I will be applying to a couple of schools with higher acceptance rates just in case.
Thank you
Bump?
They’re all pretty preppy, although I’m not sure about the nautical theme. From my visits, I would say Georgetown is the most “prep”, followed by GWU and then American.
If your stats are really high, be sure to demonstrate interest in GWU/American, since they are known for yield protection. I.e. signing up for the mail list, interviewing, visiting (if feasible), and doing the optional essays.
I am curious about what it means to you that a student population is “nautical”? I picture a college near the ocean with that description, not a college near the Potomac.
Best to make your own determinations. Have you visited the schools? Have you read up on them in books like Fiske, Princeton Review, Insiders Guide?
Georgetown appeared as one of “The Runners Up” in the Preppy Handbook, indicating a high degree of preppiness, at least around the time that book was published.
G’town is preppy. AU isn’t. Gwu is in-between.
However, once you reach 30% or less acceptance rate (that includes AU sis), all schools become a crapshoot. Also, have you run the NPC and discussed their results with your parents?
