Bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its great, but that by no means is a hook nor does it really jump off the page at an adcom. However the skills you have acquired to do so well can help you in the long run, such as interviews.

Wait so you both won one?

No, just HE won one. im mad

how prestigious is it to have really big dick, no really...

You're mad because your **friend **won a competition...?

You can **both* get accepted to the same college.*

"No, just HE won one. im mad"

Wow, why are you calling him a friend if he won a competition?

Wouldn't you be proud of your 'friend'? your 'teammate'?

Nice camaraderie on that debate team.

I'm curious as to what league your team competes in. And get over it, you should be happy for your friend. Not everyone can win first place, just making it to states is a big accomplishment.

^ okay, let me clear this up. lol sorry.

hes not really my friend. we are just rivals, but we are friendly rivals. we've been competing against eachother through grade school, just cuz we are both competetive. we aren't close at all. it's just that we know eachother cuz we've been competing. but we are still civil towards eachother.

so... no one has really answered my question.

(Not to be mean, but...)

Why don't you try ceasing to compete with this person and working on developing your confidence and life?

Try picking up a dictionary or book up and spelling competitive correctly as well.

And no one answered your question, I assume, because no one wanted to dignify it with a proper response.

Okay, I'll answer your question.

Public speaking is a very highly valued skill, and placing in a state competition is very good indeed. It will reflect quite well on him.

It will be viewed as a good award and will tell a lot about his personalities. It is however subjective to call it "prestigious", and I hope people would stop using that stupid word all the time(for college, high school, summer programs, ECs, yo momma...).

You both can get into the same college... Don't worry.

Or should you be?...

state circuit is for whimps. national comps are the way to go. tell your friend that.

anyways, you and your friend are different people. one award will not change a college's decision -- i am sure that you have something your friend does not as well. now, if your friend is a speech/debate star and you do nothing, thatt is a different story

Yup. State competitions are for the best wimps in the state.

One of the most misinformed comments about competitive public speaking ever seen. :)
