How prevalent is greek life?

I pose this question to any current student or student knowledgeable on this issue. I come from a very heavily greek-oriented university, and find the system to be rather disgusting. Any comments on the greek life at WashU are appreciated.

i'm not a current student, but since no one has posted in the last hour, I'll give it a try.

I've never heard of Wash U as being greek-life-oriented. If you hate Greek Life (me too), you'll be safe at Wash U.

We're about 25% Greek and in no way does Greek Life dominate the campus. However, it is definitely there and available for those who wish to go Greek.

Thanks for the info. Now this is a rather broad question, but how would you describe the student body and social scene as a whole?

The uni I'm coming from is pretty homogenous with everyone from Florida, and the social scene pretty much consists of keggers, which is obviously what I'm trying to get away from.

i've heard that it's " study hard, play hard" if that answers your question at all

Thanks, but unfortunately, that's how just about any university describes themselves, especially the upper tiers. This can really mean a wide variety of things.
