According to collegeboard.com, the only Top 20-ranked LAC with more than 5% in engineering/computer science is Harvey Mudd (55%).

CollegeBoard is wrong then. Although it varies from year to year, Swarthmore averages above 5% engineering majors plus computer science majors.

Engineering:
2005 7.4%
2006 6.4%
2007 4.0%
2008 4.9%

Computer Science:
2005 2.9%
2006 2.6%
2007 3.4%
2008 4.4%

id,
Thanks for the data on Swarthmore. This is one of the problems with collegeboard's data as it only lists those majors which have a 5% representation. They list Engineering and Computer Science separately and, as you numbers show, neither had a 5% level in the latest year.

Ideally, in making these comparisons, one would use the CDS for each school as it provides the level of detail that you provide for Swarthmore, but unfortunately too many schools don't publish a CDS and thus apples-to-apples comparisons are only possible using centralized sources such as collegeboard.

The other problem is that it is statistical foolishness to base any conclusions on a one-year sample for a small liberal arts college with only 350 to 400 in a graduating class. The year to year fluctuations can be staggering, especially when you start looking at small subgroups like an ethnic category or engineering majors.
