I have to send a few scores that I didn't specify to be sent at the sitting, but sending them now by regular (not rush) might involve a narrow miss with the Nov. 1 deadline...

Anyone have experience with strictness of these score arrivals? (I will still call some places and report back) Or experience with directly knowing that a school received the scores within some number of days?

First, you need to check what is actually required by the college. Most of them accept scores even if they arrive after Nov 1. Many even accept Nov SAT scores for EA/ED. Thus, you can just send them regular delivery to most once the scores are released. A small number actually require the scores to be in their hands by Nov 1 and they will tell you that on their sites if they do. For those you might consider doing a rush delivery once scores are released since CB will send them electronically within two days of the order (regular delivery can often be the same or not much longer and even it is likely to be delivered by Nov 1 but rush would avoid any risk). Most if not all colleges now have electronic delivery from CB via an on-line account the college has with CB. Sending is done by putting your scores in that account. Thus, sending by CB and receipt by the college occur at the same time.

Thanks for the info. I just wasn’t sure since their sites didn’t specify anything unusual, but some had nuances about the November 2 date / sending directly on that date / October date etc. so wasn’t sure how that carried over…
Today I called up MIT and some florida state schools and they all said regular delivery was fine. As an example, UF happened to also give me a detail that any sitting before the Nov. 2 one would be accepted, and the score just had to be in before Dec. 31, even though their regular decision deadline is Nov. 1. Other schools will probably give information like this if one calls the admissions office.
