How rare is it to get a scholarship to UT Austin?

not necessary a full scholarship...but what is a typical amount and how often does that occur? and could u include a sample resume that might get what ever scholarship

A National Merit finalist from my D’s high school got one. Of the 30 or so kids from our suburban Houston school going to UT, he’s the only one I know with a scholarship.

I received a $13,000/yr scholarship from the college of Liberal Arts (only 5 per year awarded) and was offered a $2000/yr Texas Exes Award for Leadership and Excellence but had to turn that down because I received the above scholarship. That scholarship is awarded to something like 7 kids a year.

There are quite a few smaller scholarships (usually about $1,000) per year awarded through the Texas exes. Some of the academic units (particularly engineering) will also award scholarships.

National Merit is $3,000/yr plus $1000 for the freshman year if you are Texan.

But full scholarships are non-existant unless you are a scholarship athlete, and only a very very small number will receive any merit-based award. I’d say no more than 10% receive anything, and probably no more than 1% receive more than $1000 a year.

Depends on the college. In Engineering, I was OOS, and not even top 10% in my school (although my school did not rank, it did distinguish the top 10% highest GPAs in the class), and I got into Engineering Honors and received a waiver for the additional OOS tuition, as well as a $3,000 scholarship.

When I went to the ECJ to get my scholarship check, I saw a huge line of people that had also received scholarships. I think engineering has a lot more money for scholarships than some of the other colleges (such as natural sciences), so it definitiely depends on your major.

CSE hands out scholarships like candy.

I believe the scholarships may have something to do with the new Cockrell part to the College of Engineering.

When do engineering scholarships show up online? Has anyone with an engineering scholarship received any more information about writing a thank you letter and getting the funds in the fall?
