How realistic is $3000 in work study at NYU?

I was wondering how realistic/feasible it would be to actually earn my maximum $3000 in work study. The NYU site says the average pay is 9-15 an hour. Is work study income taxed? I am thinking about doing premed and I don’t want to overload my schedule. I was hoping to work about 12 hours a week but it seems like I would have to work more than that to reach 3000. Has anyone on here received/earned ~3000 in work study? How much did you work/did it significantly impact your schedule? Thanks

Work study is taxed.
