As a student considering BC, I have a couple questions: How religious is the school (Is it overwhelmingly Catholic or is it not too noticeable??) and how is the premed/science program?

it's as religious as you want it to be. It's accessible if you want it to be, but you're deffinitely not forced into anything. There are deffinitely some catholic touches... like, some of the classes have crosses above the doors and there was a mass for anyone who wanted to go during orientation.

still, it's a very welcoming atmosphere.

**as for statistics, i think about 60% of the school is christian, but that doesn't mean they're devout christians, that's just what they put on their applications. i deffinitely met a large variety of people when i went for my orientation.

There is a pre-med program, and it is a good one. It's pretty intense... first year is molecular cell bio if you test out of regular bio, chem, and calc... that's a lot of labs and a lot of science.

Pongo, somewhere between 60-65 percent of the school is CATHOLIC, not Christian. Just pointing that out- it's a very important distinction because I'm sure a significant portion of the 35-40 percent who are not Catholic ARE Christian. I'm not sure how much it will matter to the original poster, but he/she asked about Catholicism, and Catholicism is just one of many branches of Christianity. The majority of BC students are Catholic, but I would guess even out of those who are not, many of the students are from Christian religions similar to Catholicism.

ooh, sorry! I didn't mean to spread misinformation!
