How religious is Fordham University?

I’m thinking of applying to Fordham but I’m atheist. I know that I won’t feel out of place or anything, but I grew up in a very catholic household and I don’t want that same experience in college. I have no problem with people displaying their faith, but are there required theology courses? Is the religious presence dominant at Fordham?

I’m not aware of what it exactly means to be a jesuit school, so if anyone could shed some light on the subject, it would be greatly appreciated!

Then, you won’t like Fordham.
I see that you also have Villanova on your list. It’s Catholic too, and is known as a school for students who were rejected by Notre Dame. You would like it even less than Fordham.

Yes. Two.
Plus two philosophy courses.

Yes.

Jesuits are highly intellectual monks, who happen to run a ton of Catholic colleges. Most of these colleges are excellent. Jesuits are often oriented toward social justice. The current pope, Francis, was a Jesuit.
