Hi guys so I was wondering if you could give me your opinion of this load for my junior year:

Ap Lang
Ap Bio (DP)
Ap World
Ap BC
Internship (it is like assistant teacher) -should I swap this with psych-?
Guitar

And for reference senior year I know I'll definitely take:

Multi-variable
Ap stat
Ap lit
Ap psych
--------------unsure-------------
Some honors science class or internship again
And maybe an ap enviro/chem

So we got a lot of aps at our school and everyone takes them... usually 4-6 is the norm. I also do other stuff like sports at school (spring season), piano (classes, not competitive though), and language school outside of class. So I'm just wondering if this is enough without killing me to much this year. I like to aim high, but if it's manageable than that'd be nice. I'm also aiming for the ivies so if any of you who got in to one and came from a relatively competitive highschool can drop me some tips :)

Thanks!

Uhm it seems like that’s not competitive enough for the ivies. Talk to your guidance counselor about it. They will be asked if you took a most rigorous, very rigorous, average, or below average course load. That schedule seems to be in the very rigorous category. Nearly all ivy accepted students have taken the most rigorous course load offered. That is a good sched but not quite up to par… Also, your ECs aren’t very good so I’d say ivies are a very high reach.

Ask your guidance counselor what is considered “most rigorous”.
Top schools will want 5 AP/Honors/Accelerated/Advanced classes per year (any of these labels is fine) with 1-2 electives or “requirements” (like health, PE, etc).
Does your day only have 6 periods? I’d keep the internship because it’s different from what many students have plus it’d give your teacher an opportunity for a detailed recommendation, but I’d add one more class, if necessary eat your sandwich in class…

I would tentatively agree with Chlogan3921 and MYOS1634, but look at the course loads you’ve taken in the past and remember how easy/stressful they were. Don’t add extra-hard courses to try and get into the Ivies, then struggle and put yourself at risk of doing poorly. It’s better to have a higher GPA than a more advanced course load. Your likelihood of getting into the Ivies depends on a number of other factors as well. As for the Internship vs. Psych choice, which one would you rather do? An internship, especially one for a field you are interested in pursuing as a career, would be very valuable.

A big issue I see is that you have no history senior year (usually four years of history is required or strongly recommended at the most selective schools and many won’t count psych), no foreign language either year and no science senior year (again four years is often required or strongly recommended). You schedule is far from balanced which can lead to several issues.
