I'm a current freshman wanting to be a computer science major. i living the metro-Atlanta area, and wondering of GT is really bad. all the collage students i know who go to GT say they cry everyday. is there a better option then tech thats not really expensive. I also want to ask whats a good gpa. currently, i have all As and 1B (my school is block). i know i will never end up make a 4.0 average. im going to end up taking like 5-8 APs and AP physics B is going to be really hard. im a really lazy person and i need to get my act together. I came from the "hood" and when i moved to a really competitive school, i had to drop a math pathway. so im stucked with gifted. will collages look into my course history and see i dropped freshman year? Do collages like community hours (i have 170 so far) do they like band(i might drop so i can take two math to get back on pathway). whats my starting pay for CS is it worth the pain to go through. will SAT school help me with SAT. Sorry, if i cant spell. i know collage is like 3 years away but i really want to start planing my life out so i can live a good life. Back to the point is tech really that hard, is it like a filter class so they can fail everyone.

Hi,

Engineering, at GT or any school, can be a demanding major/program. However, if you can get accepted into the school, I’m sure you will be up to it. GT isn’t any “harder” or “worse” that it’s peers, don’t worry about it.

You really should schedule time with a school consular/advisor and get much more detailed advise that what we can provide here. They can give you advise, based on your goals (CS) on what classes to take. They can also tell you what sort of grades and classes have been taken by other students that got accepted into GT. Also consider that Georgia has lots of options, other than GT, for CS majors.

Your grades are great, you don’t need a perfect 4.0. Work on your study skills, and talk with your school adviser.

Good Luck!
